Facebook 'violates privacy laws'

A Canadian privacy group has filed a complaint against the social networking site Facebook accusing it of violating privacy laws. The Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic has listed 22 separate breaches of privacy law in its country.

Customer data 'needs protection'

Companies and public bodies are not doing enough to protect customers' data, the UK's privacy watchdog and a major survey of security have said.
The Information Commissioner said that the 94 security breaches reported to him last year was an "alarming" number.

Britons 'wilfing' away their days on web: poll

British internet users waste an average of two days a month "wilfing," or aimlessly browsing the web, according to a study released Tuesday. More than two-thirds of respondents admitted to wilfing — which stands for "What was I looking for? — according to a study published by price comparison site moneysupermarket.com.

There are currently two main options on the market for controlling internet access in the workplace: content filtering and URL filtering. The two are often confused as being the same, however the main differences are that the former is more powerful and versatile but costs a lot, while the latter is more basic but won't break the bank.
